During the month of June, as we enter the warm days of summer, we are featuring our 2018 Over the Moon Sparkling! Our signature white sparkling, this vintage was released just this Spring. Our first sparkling that is not a blend, but 100% Chardonnay…you can call this beauty a true Blanc de Blancs style sparkling.
Blanc de Blancs, meaning “white from white” is a Champagne made from all white grapes; and most traditionally from Chardonnay. Originating from the Côte des Blancs region within Champagne, France where the chalky soil is most suited to growing white varietals; 96% of the vineyards in this region are plots of Chardonnay! The minerality and salinity this soil imparts to the Chardonnay grapes produces crisp, complex, and beautifully balanced wine with intense aromas.
While we are not in Champagne, and thus cannot call our sparkling a “Champagne”, we think this vintage is the closest we have yet come to capturing the beauty of a perfect blanc de blancs Champagne. Crisp, bright, and rich our Over the Moon as yeasty notes of sweet rolls as you pop the cork. Soft and floral, this sparkling shows flavors of citrus zest, biscuit, and refreshing minerality. Extremely versatile for pairing with food, this beauty is perfection to the very last sip.
