farm + vineyard
The vineyards at Mount Ida Reserve span 27 acres between our High Ridge vineyard just over the hill from the Tasting Room to the north and Bell Mount vineyard overlooking historic Mount Ida Manor.
Our 5000 acre reserve’s position in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge creates ideal sloped land for growing. During harvest our fruit is picked by hand, never machinery, to preserve the quality of the grapes.
The vineyards are overseen by our farm manager, Keith Shifflett.
guided tastings
We offer guided wine tastings at our bars seven days a week. Reservations are required Saturday and Sunday, walk ins are welcome Monday – Friday though reservations are available. Tasting with a large group? Inquire about our private tasting experiences.
Our tastings are pre-selected and rotate seasonally.
We also offer red, white, and seasonal special wines by table-side flight.

The Virginia Governor’s Cup, one of the most stringent competitions in the US, is hosted by the Virginia Wineries Association, in partnership with the Virginia Wine Board and the Virginia Vineyards Association.

our wine maker
Frantz Ventre has more than 30 years of progressive experience in winemaking and
vineyard management. He started his career in his home town of Bordeaux, France at the age of 16 and soon moved to Charlottesville where he began as an intern and then operations manager at Jefferson Vineyard.
Frantz brings a unique perspective to Mount Ida’s wine program by combining traditional and old world experience with his interest in experimentation.
vintner’s reserve society
Our wine club is tailored to those who wash to join our wine-loving community. Members will receive a special selection of three bottles quarterly. Mount Ida will automatically charge your credit card on file at the time of each shipment, plus shipping and handling if applicable. Society members have the option to pick up bottles or have them shipped to their home.
