Where are you from?

I was born in Richmond and grew up in Northern VA.

What is your educational background?

I studied English and Studies in Women and Gender at UVa. After graduating I decided I wanted to cook for a living and attended culinary school at L’Academie de Cuisine in Maryland.

What do you like to do in your free time?

When I am not working I am likely doing something outdoors with my husband and our pups, reading, or at Hot Yoga Charlottesville.

How did you get in to the industry?

I started cooking for myself and roommates while at UVa. I quickly found myself spending all my free time watching the Food Network and reading food magazines. I got a job with HotCakes, doing any and every job I could, and fell in love. I was enrolled in culinary school right before graduation and started classes the following fall.

What personal goals do you have for The Tasting Room & Taphouse?

I am so excited to join the Cville hospitality community. I hope to help create a space where locals and tourists alike will want to hang out and host their most important life events. We want The Tasting Room & Taphouse to feel like home!

What is your favorite drink at the moment?

We just moved down from DC so I am rediscovering spaces all over town!

Some current favorites would be the Monbazillac sauterne style wine at Gabriele Rausse, house gin and tonic from The Fitzroy, the Whiskey Jar’s mint julep or moonshine punch, The Alley Light’s sazerac, and anything sour from Three Notch’d Sour House.

What is your favorite thing to do in Charlottesville on a day off?

Wandering around town with my husband. Showing him my favorite places from when I was in school, and discovering new places together. I am really looking forward to festivals and the City Market once the weather changes!
