Today for our Meet the Team blog series we are introducing our Sous Chef, Nick Bishop!

Where are you from?

Yukon, Oklahoma

 

What is your educational background?

I attended the culinary institute of Platt college in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife Linda and our two beautiful daughters Gentree and Fiona. We love taking walks, playing hide and seek, collecting rocks, exploring our new city, a nice family dinner, and after a full day just sitting down with my wife and a glass of wine to catch up on our day and of course our latest episodes!

 

How did you get in to the industry

I joined a culinary program in high school and then proceeded into culinary school while working up through kitchens trying to further my knowledge and career. I was always drawn in to how food was the center of great moments in life. It called to me at an early age about how a food focused life could be so satisfying. We can make someones day with the flavors we put together for them to enjoy as well as fulfilling ourselves by creating a dish that has meaning and purpose behind it.

What personal goals do you have for The Tasting Room & Taphouse?

My main goal is to really bring a sense of community to the Tasting room & Taphouse with exceptional food and drink sourced from some of our amazing local farms.

 

What is your favorite drink at the moment?

I’m an all around kind of guy! I love a good bourbon, cold beer, or a glass of wine! as long as its in good company everything can be appreciated.

What is your favorite thing to do in Charlottesville on a day off?

My family and I are new to the Charlottesville area so we’re still exploring and trying to take in everything this great city has to offer! So far the city farmers market and local fare have been what I’ve enjoyed most.
